Fair Sentencing Act Will Be Applied Retroactively

The United States Sentencing Commission voted unanimously to give retroactive effect to the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 which reduces the disparity between sentences for defendants convicted of crack cocaine crimes and those convicted of crimes involving powder cocaine.  This could affect up to 12,000 inmates, potentially lowering their sentences.  See the United States Sentencing Commission News Release here.
